Its vast network of canals, rivers and lakes provides an abundance of freshwater fish, while the Arabian Sea supplies an equally impressive variety of saltwater seafood. It’s no surprise that visitors often ask where locals go for a truly authentic seafood lunch.

That’s what led us to Aravala Restaurant in Alappuzha, a trending seafood restaurant in Alappuzha located near the Collectorate at Zackaria Bazar. Recommended by locals and increasingly popular among food lovers, this modest eatery has quickly built a reputation for serving traditional Kerala meals with exceptionally fresh seafood.

Seafood Takes Centre Stage

The highlight of Aravala Restaurant in Alappuzha is undoubtedly its seafood.

We began with a traditional Kerala meals, which paired beautifully with the restaurant’s signature seafood preparations. The undisputed star of the afternoon was the Kalanji (Barramundi) Fish Head Curry. Rich, flavourful and deeply satisfying, it was one of the finest fish head curries we’ve had in recent times.

The equally impressive Kalanji Tawa Fry featured perfectly cooked, firm fish with a beautifully spiced crust that complemented the mild flavour of the Barramundi.

The Chemmeen Roast and Koonthal (Squid) Fry were both excellent additions to the meal, each bringing its own distinct Kerala flavours.

The only dish that didn’t quite live up to the seafood standards was the much-talked-about Beef Koorka. Although the restaurant recommends it, we personally felt it lacked the same depth of flavour as the seafood specialities.

Why Seafood Lovers Should Visit

If you’re searching for a seafood lunch spot in Alappuzha, this restaurant deserves serious consideration. The ingredients are fresh, the flavours are rooted in traditional Kerala cooking, and the prices remain surprisingly affordable considering the quality and generous portions.
