Although the restaurant is small and parking is limited because of the ongoing National Highway construction, the warm welcome from Nasar Ikka and his team immediately made us feel at home. The biggest attraction here is the combination of traditional Malabar cooking and freshly prepared seafood. Unlike restaurants with fixed menus, the varieties of fish change depending on the day’s catch, making every visit a little different.

Many regular customers come here specifically for the famous Ayala Fry, served alongside hot puttu and generous portions of fish curry gravy. Unfortunately, Ayala wasn’t available during our visit, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying an impressive spread of seafood and Malabar favourites.
We tried Manthal Fry, Avoli Fry, Ponnappila Kora Fry, Chicken Fry, Beef Roast, Puttu, Neypathal, Parotta, and Appam. Each fish was marinated with traditional Malabar spices and cooked fresh on the tawa, resulting in bold flavours without overpowering the freshness of the seafood. It’s easy to understand why this place has earned a reputation for serving famous seafood street food in Kozhikode.
