Every now and then, a restaurant becomes the talk of the town. Friends recommend it, social media posts start appearing everywhere, and food lovers keep mentioning the same name repeatedly. Lately, one such name in Ernakulam has been T&T Shawaya Kochi.
What immediately caught my attention was a claim often associated with the restaurant—that they have sold more than 3 lakh chickens. Naturally, I wanted to know whether the food was genuinely that good or if it was simply another trending food spot.
To find out, I visited T&T Shawaya Restaurant in Kochi along with my friend Arun Chandran and one of his friends.
The restaurant is located in Kathrikadavu and offers a clean, modern dining environment with ample parking facilities. Unlike many crowded shawaya outlets, the ambience here feels comfortable enough for both families and groups of friends.
Since this was our first visit, we decided to try their signature offerings. The star attraction was, of course, the Masala Shawaya.
Served fresh and beautifully roasted, the shawaya had a juicy texture and a rich flavour profile that immediately stood out. The seasoning was well-balanced and complemented the chicken without overpowering it. Paired with Arabian Rice and fresh Kuboos, it delivered the kind of meal that explains why shawaya has become such a popular choice among Kerala food lovers.
One surprise during the visit was the Mango Salad. While most people visit for the chicken, the salad turned out to be one of the most memorable items on the table. The combination of sweet mangoes, mild spice, and tangy flavours created a refreshing contrast to the richness of the shawaya.
The restaurant’s dips also deserve special mention. A good shawaya experience often depends on the quality of the accompanying dips, and T&T performed well in this department.
After the meal, we decided to try some of their beverages. The Dry Fruit Shake, Lotus Biscoff Shake, and Blueberry Fresh Fruit Shake were all thick, filling, and flavourful. If you enjoy ending your meal with a rich shake, these are worth considering. We also tried a Fresh Pineapple Juice, which offered a lighter and more refreshing option.
As the meal progressed, it became easier to understand why the restaurant continues to attract so much attention. The combination of quality food, consistent flavours, comfortable ambience, and good service has helped T&T Shawaya build a strong reputation among shawaya lovers in Kochi.
