Urula Restaurant in Kochi Famous For Seafood Lunch

When you think of Kerala meals, delicious seafood cuisines would prove to be an important component of full fledge meals. And if you are a person who likes to have seafood varieties along with rice? Urula restaurant in Kochi is one of the impressive options to try out. The word Urula in Malayalam means a handful of rice and as the name symbolises, the restaurant serves you tasty Kerala meals.

One of the main attractions of Urula restaurant is the Red Snapper fry (Chempally fry) which goes well with rice. Sliced Red Snapper pieces are fried in relatively less oil with a unique masala combination to give a rich flavour. The meat is so soft and it’s slow-cooked to get the real taste. Another main thing I felt when I tasted the fry is that it has only a mild spicy flavour. The masala used is the highlight and it has an awesome flavour.

Meals is served on natural Banana leaves with a set of vegetarian dishes like Aviyal, Beans, Pickle, Sambar and Papad. Fish and Prawns curry is served initially to be mixed with hot steaming rice. The Prawns curry contains drumstick pieces and raw mango slices for a slightly sour flavour and it tastes good with rice. The Urula restaurant also has a wide range of seafood options like Mix seafood Tawa fry, Pearl Spot curry, Prawns roast, Crab roast and Tiger Prawns fry. Apart from these seafood recipes, the food spot is also famous for a Beef curry with Chinese Potato.

Mixed seafood Tawa fry has a more spicy flavour when compared to the Red Snapper fry and it has a different taste. My wife after having some mixed seafood tawa fry pieces came up with the comment that it tastes more like fish masala. Yes, it’s having a roasted taste and it’s made of seafood varieties like Squid, Prawns and Fish. Of all the seafood dishes we had from Urula restaurant, Tiger Prawns fry is the one we like the most. Prawns are shallow-fried with a delicious masala mixture along with coconut pieces. It was so juicy and the taste was nothing less than spectacular. If you enjoy fish tawa fry, fish curry, and other seafood dishes with your lunch, I think Urula Restaurant would prove to be a good option.

The food spot is located slightly far from the main areas of Kochi and it’s close to the Lissi Hospital. There is no specific space available for parking and we would need to find the space by the side of the road.
