After a couple of years, I decided to try out some special flavours from my native place Changanassei in Kottayam. Even though I have done many videos in the past, itβs been some time since I made a video from my home town. I have completed my schooling and college education in this beautiful town and hence it was quite normal for me to have a detailed idea about the place. The nostalgic memories which would emerge to your mind when you travel through your home town make you feel happy and pleasant. Have you been in a situation where you come back to your native place after some time to try out some delicious dishes? One of my friends Krishnadas has informed me about a street food shop opposite the SB College serving some tasty dishes. Babuchettante Thattukada is the name of the shop which serves us special chicken curry for dinner along with Parotta and Dosa.
Krishnadas is an advocate and he came to know about this street food shop back in his college days when he was completing his degree at SB College. He used to have food from this eatery along with his friends since the college days. Even today he visits this eatery every now and then with his family and they used to have Parotta and chicken curry for dinner. The person who runs this shop is called by the name Babuchettan and he looks busy with the preparation of Dosa. The street food shop by the side of the road serves us Parotta, Dosa, Chicken fry and delicious chicken curry. When asked about the best combination for Chicken curry, he insists to have Parotta. Dosa on the other hand is served with coconut chutney and dark brown coloured chilli chutney for an improved flavour.
A plastic sheet is tied over the shop to get protected from rain. The person standing towards the left side of Babuchettan is busy with the preparation of Parotta. Many people were seen standing by the side of the shop and having their food. Customers also take chicken curry as a parcel to be had at home such is the wide acceptance of this shop. Krishnadas, his family and his friends have all ordered Parotta with chicken curry. Since I felt like having some light food, I have gone for Dosa and Chicken curry along with some crispy fried chicken pieces for dinner.
Chicken curry has a thick gravy and it has a slightly spicy flavour with the presence of green chillies. The grated coconut used in the curry gives it a distinct flavour. Sliced onion pieces were also served along with the recipe to have an improved taste. Crispy fried chicken pieces were also amazing and the masala used in this dish tasted really good with the Dosa. The chilli chutney served with dosa had a really spicy flavour and hence it would be ideal to have it sparingly with dosa. As the shop is so close to the road, we could see many vehicles moving through the road. Babuchettante Thattukada in Changanasseri would prove to be an amazing choice to have delicious chicken recipes and if you are travelling through this town, this street food shop would be an amazing spot.
