Sree Narayana Hotel in Perumbavoor For Delicious meals with Fried Fish and Beef

If you are looking to have delicious Kerala meals with Fish fry and Beef, Sree Narayana Hotel in Perumbavoor would be the perfect choice !!

We all would have been in a situation where we happen to see some attractive shops on our travel. Sometimes we would visit these shops to buy the product which has caught our attention and later continues with our journey. But there were other scenarios where we come across another shop nearer to the initial one and we might change our plans spontaneously to visit the second shop as well. This has exactly been my situation when we were travelling through Perumbavoor and finds out some raw mangoes for sale by the side of the road. As I was making plans to buy some raw mangoes for my home, I happen to see the Sree Narayana Hotel located close to the mango shop. Sree Narayana Hotel in Perumbavoor is known for serving delicious Kerala meals along with a few non-vegetarian dishes.

We made enquiries to make videos and as the restaurant gave the permission, we decided to have lunch the next day. After buying some raw mangoes from the shop nearby the food spot, I reached the restaurant to have lunch the following day. As we were about to enter the hotel building, we have seen a neatly arranged stack of firewood by the side. Inside the kitchen, I saw the beef recipe being prepared on a traditional firewood stove. Sambar is also being cooked nearby in a large vessel and a long spatula is used in mixing the ingredients. Geetha is the name of the lady who has been in charge of cooking these dishes and the restaurant is in fact run by her whole family including her sisters.

I have met a lady called Girija, who in fact was described as the main character of the restaurant. Boiled and cooked rice was seen transferred from a huge cooking pan to the smaller ones using a couple of stainer spatulas. Vegetable dishes like Avial and Thoran were also cooked and ready to be served for lunch. Some of the fish varieties like Kera (Tuna), Tilapia, Ayala (Mackerel) and Mathi (Sardines) were all used for frying in oil. The food spot doesn’t have any other fish recipes other than fries. Cleaned and washed fish pieces which were marinated with the masala were fully immersed in the oil for frying.

The restaurant was functioning for 30 years and it is located close to the roadside. While we were having the food, we could hear the sound of the vehicles moving through the road. Traditional banana leaves were used instead of steel plates for serving the food. Hot steaming rice was served for me with a couple of non-vegetarian recipes like Kera fish fry and beef fry. Sambar was poured over the rice for a delicious flavour. Avial, Thoran and mango pickles were vegetable recipes served along with rice.

The fish fry has different rates on each day according to its availability. The beef recipe on the other hand was truly amazing and it felt really delicious to be had with rice. Breakfast dishes were also available in the morning and the list of items was displayed on the wall for the customers to have a look. Buttermilk and rasam were available on the dining table in jugs to be had with rice. People can have lunch from 12.00 pm onwards and the food will get finished by 3.30 pm. If you are on your way through Perumbavoor, Sree Narayana Hotel would prove to be an ideal choice to have budget-friendly delicious meals for lunch.
