Pu Ka Tea Shop in Alappuzha Beach near the Old Pier for Delicious Tea Varieties

We all would love to spend some time on a beach along with our family or friends. Walking along the shore through the sand and enjoying the soothing breeze blowing across from the sea would make you calm. Children would enjoy the repeating tides constantly trying to reach them. They would be fascinated to witness the ocean rubbing off all the scribblings they make on the sand. Being a coastal state, Kerala is truly blessed with numerous beaches for the people to choose from. Alappuzha Beach is one of the beautiful seasides which attracts a huge crowd, especially during the evenings to witness the departure of the Sun down the horizon. The colourful sky gives away an exhibition of natural portraits which truly warrants everyone’s attention. Pu Ka Tea Shop in Alappuzha Beach presents us with a nice vibe to enjoy its delicious tea varieties.

The rustic feel of Alappuzha Beach comes with the old piers standing tall withstanding the effects of constant waves. Even though these piers were caught up in rust, they refuse to give up, reminding us about the old bridge which used to be an icon of this beach back in the day. People come in large numbers to witness the dramatic view of the sunset. Many of them try to get a piece of this atmosphere onto their phones in the form of an image or a video. Families make use of these vacation days to come out with their children to enjoy the seashore. Children were seen having a nice time by jumping in the waves under the strict supervision of their parents which should in turn be the case.

Our vlog at Pu Ka Tea Shop in Alappuzha Beach

As we were looking out to the colourful sky with a retreating sun, we have been presented with a piece of cake by a group of people. They were celebrating the birthday of one of them and they choose to cut the cake at this beautiful seashore. After a few years of restrictions due to the Covid pandemic, people come in numbers to have a good time with their family or friends at the beach.

Pu Ka Tea Shop is located within walking distance of the shore close to the old piers. The small kiosk were having a well-maintained open dining area. The name of the shop Pu Ka has been the short form of ‘Pattum Kattanum’ which means light and black coffee in Malayalam. Lights were arranged in such a way of giving a soothing atmosphere to the place. Music was playing in the background and this restricted us from making a detailed vlog about the teashop. We have met Harri and Sharath from the Bon Appetit vlogs and we have had a chat. The amazing view of the sunset was truly wonderful to see from the shop and I have gone for a glass of lip-smacking Mint tea. We also chose to have a few snack varieties which we felt could have been tastier if it was hot. Hot and steaming Biriyani Tea was also something we really enjoyed from the teashop. If you chose to visit the Alappuzha beach with your loved ones, Pu Ka Tea Shop by the beachside would provide a nice experience.

We have also visited Marari Beach in Alappuzha recently and it’s quite different from the Alappuzha beach. We can see much more greenery as coconut trees were seen in large numbers towards the beachside. There were numerous shops along the seashore for tourists. A small backwater source is seen towards one side and fishermen’s thermocol boats have been kept on the beach. One of the main features of Marari Beach is its long stretch of chairs and umbrella being placed on the shore. We might have to pay to use these services but it looked quite intriguing and fascinating.
