All of us Keralites would love to start a day with a lovely breakfast. Yes, I am going to introduce to you a spot very famous for exactly what you are looking for. Prakashettante Kada in Thrissur serves you simple breakfast dishes like Dosa and Idli with Coconut chutney and Sambar. Coconut chutney is white and it goes well with Dosa and Idli. Tomato chutney is also available and itβs made of onion and tomato. The presence of tomato imparts a slightly sour taste and red colour, while the use of onion enhances the flavour. If you like Puttu, then you can also have hot steamy Puttu, Kadala curry and Pappad.
Prakashettante Kaka is a simple village restaurant by the roadside and hence it is accessible to customers. Prakashettan is the one who is running the restaurant and hence the name Parashettante Kada. The seating is in a traditional way involving a wooden desk and bench. A long list of snack varieties like Uzhunnu vada, Bread Pori, Papadaboli, Pazhampori and Undampori is also available for us to choose from. I choose to have idli and Dosa, along with Uzhunnu (Urad dal) vada. Idli is soft and puffy, and Dosa, on the other hand, is of medium thickness and has a homely feel.
All the chutney varieties and curries are kept in small steel buckets on the table, we can take them as we wish. I find the taste of white coconut chutney more appealing than tomato chutney. We also had a cup of hot tea and it was good. I find dosa more tasteful and it felt awesome with Sambar and Chutney.
If you wish to have tapioca for breakfast, you can also have tapioca with kadala and chutney. As the shop is beside the road, the parking facility is limited for customers. Since itβs a traditional small budget-friendly restaurant, it has a moderate ambience. Many of my viewers were enquiring about the person who is with me. My friend Nishad is accompanying me on this journey and he has a textile shop at Golden Market in Thrissur. The name of the shop is 64. Apparently, they are collecting the textiles from Tirupur. As this was the world cup year, the shop also has jerseys of famous football players like Messi and Ronaldo.
