Have you ever felt like having seafood dishes from Arabic cuisines? Pescopa Seafood Restaurant in Kozhikode serves you a variety of seafood recipes that would make you want more. Seafood has always been an integral part of Kerala from the old days. Fried as well gravy rich curries have been the major recipe preparations we normally associate with seafood. The grilled variety comes mainly in two different flavours. The first variety involves red sauce made of tomato and red chilli. The second variant is made with a green sauce prepared of green leaves like Pudina. You can have fish grilled with red sauce or with green sauce, and also half the portion with red sauce and the rest with green sauce. In order for me to get the taste of both the grilled varieties, we ordered a red snapper, half a portion with red sauce and the rest with green sauce. The portion of the fish grilled with red sauce is mildly spicy and for more flavour, you can use more red sauce or chutney served alongside the dish. Among the two variants, I found the portion of the fish grilled with the green sauce tastier. The fish is so soft and tender, and it’s removed off bones.
I choose to start my dinner with delicious seafood soup. The hot and steamy seafood soup preparation contains some seafood varieties like Crab. The taste was awesome and it has a relatively whitish tint. Even though the restaurant is known for seafood recipes, there are a few rice variants also available on the menu. I had some white Mandi rice with Prawns roast. The taste of Prawns roast was very good and in fact, it’s more of an Arabic flavour than our Kerala preparation. So you should expect all of these recipes to be more inclined to an Arabic taste. We can also have Prawns grilled and broasted Squid (Koonthal). Broasted Squid pieces were crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. If you like to have Fish Tikka, it’s also available for your selection.
Meanwhile, please do remind yourself of one thing, the taste of these dishes is more similar to Arabic cuisines rather than our Kerala way of preparations. Even though the taste is different, you would love it as it is. As a matter of fact, Pescopa Seafood Restaurant is by the roadside and so it’s easy for us to access.
