Oru Dosa Company in Alappuzha, Welcomes You to The World of Dosa

Are you planning to visit Alappuzha, the famous tourist spot in Kerala? The place where you could feel the beauty of beaches and leisurely enjoy a houseboat ride through the scenic backwaters of Kerala. Surely then, you should not miss out on the World of Dosas. Oru Dosa Company in Alappuzha is a famous restaurant which serves you multiple varieties of Dosas. They have both vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian dosas which you might not have heard about. You can have a taste of unique dosa collections like Beef keema dosa, Omelette dosa, Pizza uthappam and many more.

The kitchen where the Dosa is being made is towards the front of the restaurant. I find this arrangement more helpful for customers as they could see for themselves the place where the food is being prepared. They also have a small kiosk beside the kitchen for making tea and coffee. Oru Dosa Company is a two-storied building by the main roadside, the exact location is at Thirumala junction in Thiruvambady. At the entrance, you could see a board displaying the names of food items which is available. A few of the items are Chilli chicken Dosa, Spicy Chicken or Beef Keema Dosa, Huevopolo Beef or Chicken Keema Dosa, Three musketeers Dosa, Cocktail meat Dosa and so on.

Although there is a dining area available on the ground floor, we choose to sit in AC on the second floor. Out of numerous Dosa varieties, I choose to have Beef keema dosa, while my friend Sobin has gone for Omelette dosa. Keema is nothing but minced meat and Beef Keema is a kind of beef roast with slightly thick gravy. Just like the preparation of Masala Dosa where a mixture of vegetables is used, the Beef keema recipe is stuffed within the Dosa to get Beef Keema Dosa. It has a spicy flavour and the masala used in this Beef Keema combines well with Dosa and chutney. When I was having this dish, I remembered a restaurant in Palakkad serving delicious Idli and Mutton. Yes, it’s a rare combination to think of, but it was awesome.

For Omelette Dosa, a beaten egg mixture of sliced onion, green chillies and salt are poured over a dosa. Pepper powder is sprayed over for a spicy flavour. Later when it’s ready and cooked, Dosa is folded onto a plate to get the Omelette Dosa. Apparently, there is a unique Dosa variety called Pizza Uthapam, which we came to know only after making the initial order.

We decide to have a taste of this recipe and made an order for Pizza Uthapam. Even though regular Uthapam preparation contains sliced onion pieces, Pizza Uthapam makes use of sliced vegetables like beans, carrots and tomatoes. It also has paneer and a lot of cheese to contend with. People who like to have Pizza would surely savour this Pizaa Uthapam and it has a unique taste. Since I like crispy onion Uthapam, I would prefer that over Pizza Uthapam. But Sobin who favours Pizza has found this Pizza Uthapam more interesting than the normal one. So it varies from person to person.

When we are about to finish our food, there came a glass of Boost coffee and Horlicks coffee. The Beef Keema Masala was so spicy and it took me a glass of Boost coffee to calm the heat. The restaurant has a great ambience with a fair share of green plants. The cosy atmosphere it provides would be suitable for families and friends. When you think of the parking space, it has only limited facilities to park your vehicles.
