When you been to new places you would find different people. You could taste various food items with unique flavours which stay with you for a long time. Such was my experience when I travelled through the beautiful Attapadi. We have also heard about a famous food spot from the locality which is well-known among the native people. The place I was talking about is Kuttettan’s Restaurant in Attapadi which serves us delicious food items. It’s located exactly at a place called Sholayur in Attapadi.
One of the main attractions is the sweet and crispy delicious Pazham pori (Banana fritters) which can be had with a glass of hot tea. The layer of coating over the ripe banana slices makes it crispy and gives it the real taste. Also, this budget-friendly restaurant serves you perfectly made layered Parotta with delectable caramel-coloured egg roast. Sundarettan is the one who makes the crispy Parotta and he is also the one who is in charge of the preparation of Dosas. When we got to the food spot, he was busy with the preparation of dosa varieties like plain dosa, Masala dosa, Ghee roast and many more.
Apart from Banana fritters, Kuttettan’s Restaurant also has a variety of snack items like Uzhunnu vada (Urad dal), Parippu vada (lentil fritters) and so on. We first came to the restaurant the day before and had Pazhampori with a glass of hot tea. It was really good and that made us enquired with Kuttettan who is the owner of the restaurant to check out whether we could take a video about the restaurant. He agreed to our request and that made us visit this restaurant once more.
After finishing the Jeep Safari through Attapadi we reached the food spot the second time. Kuttettan was at the counter and he also helps with serving. While I made orders for Parotta and egg roast, my friend Abhilash chose to go with Parotta and Chicken curry. Since the chicken curry was not ready by that time, he also has gone for an egg roast. The taste of caramelized onion pieces in egg roast was quite amazing and it had a slightly spicy flavour which combined really well with Parotta. The sweetness of the onion and the spiciness of the recipe made it a delicious dish. I have also ordered a glass of strong tea with sugar and it proved to have a special feeling when had with spicy egg roast. Another unique feature of the restaurant was that the beef recipes were not served in the food spot.
The food is served traditionally on banana leaves and the restaurant has dusk and bench for the customers to have their food. I also tasted the sweet banana fritters with the spicy masala of egg roast and it felt really good. There we saw many people from the locality having food from this restaurant and that shows the acceptance the food spot had among the community. If you had made plans to visit Attapadi for its scenic beauty, Kuttettan’s Restaurant would prove to be an interesting choice to visit for its delicious dishes.
