Kadavu Restaurant in Aluva for a Fascinating and Yummy Seafood Treat

Who would be out there not to crave delicious food on your travel, especially if you are on your return from abroad? Having a feel of traditional food which we have enjoyed all throughout our childhood days would give all of us nostalgic memories about our past. It would also make sense if you wish to try out your favourite recipes for the last time before embarking on a journey to a distant place, where you might not get the luxury to have such tastes as you wish. Nedumbasheri Airpot in Kochi is a major airstrip in Kerala where people take off to other countries as well as return home towards ‘God’s own country’ from abroad. Kadavu restaurant located close to Aluva on the way to the airport from Kochi is exactly the place we were thinking of. The restaurant serves you a plethora of dishes from traditional Kerala cuisines, especially the seafood collections which literally gives you the real Kerala flavour.

Kadavu seafood restaurant is functioning on the banks of the Periyar River with a great ambience. We will have a great view of the Periyar River and a few plantations by the banks of the river close to the restaurant. Dining tables were arranged in an impressive manner giving it an attractive appearance for the customers. We can have a variety of seafood dishes like fish fries, Kakka (Clams) roast, Fish curry, Prawns roast, Crab roast and many more. It is operating close to another food spot by the name Mallu’s Daba and both these restaurants are owned by the same person.

Our vlog at Kadavu Restaurant in Aluva

When we got to the restaurant, the hotel staff in the kitchen was busy with the preparation of recipes for lunch. Fish was fried in two separate tawa, one contains some oil and when it’s fried in oil, it’s transferred to another tawa with less oil. Some of the fish varieties like Mathi (Sardines), Neymeen (kingfish) and Karimeen (Pearlspot) are being used for making fish fries. After sauteeing the onion pieces with the masala, the staff who was in charge of making the crab roast allowed me to introduce the cleaned crab pieces on to the pan for making the crab roast. Chattichor or meals served in earthen pots is also an attraction of this restaurant. It looks as if the whole rice served in the pot is covered with recipes and it’s an impressive dish to be tried out. The kitchen looks clean and it all makes this restaurant a must-visit for people who is on their travel through Aluva and looking to have traditional Kerala meals for lunch.

As I have hoped, was able to get a side table with a beautiful view of the river on one side. I have gone for traditional Kerala meals with some seafood recipes like Mathi (Sardines) fry, Kakka (Clams) roast, Crab roast, Neymeen (Kingfish) Fry, Choora curry (Tuna fish) and Squid roast (Koonthal). I began my lunch by having sardines fried and it tasted really awesome. Fish curry made of tuna fish was really tasty and well-suited for boiled rice. The thick coconut milk used in this dish has given it an attractive flavour. The squid roast was perfectly cooked, but it was slightly high on spicy flavour for my liking. Of all the seafood preparations I have ordered, the crab roast is the one I liked the most. It really had a breathtaking flavour.

The dining area is quite large and has the facility for many people to have their food. If you wish to have traditional Kerala meals with a long list of seafood recipes to choose from, Kadavu Restaurant in Aluva would really be an outstanding choice.
