Hotel Sree Krishna, Thalassery – Experience the taste of Homely meals with Seafood varieties

Get a feel of Malabarian Seafood recipes with the taste of Homely Meals from Hotel Sree Krishna Thalassery!

If you are in the mood to soak in the real feel of Malabar? You cannot miss the experience of Hotel Sree Krishna from the heart of Thalassery. Hotel Sree Krishna lets you enjoy traditional Kerala meals with a variety of Seafood dishes. This Hotel is also called by the name Ajayettante Hotel. Unlike many food spots, this restaurant makes use of firewood for cooking and that takes you to the old days. You can have a taste of a long list of fried seafood recipes like Ayakkoora (Seer fish), Therandi, Prawns, Mathi (sardine) and Akoli.

This spot was suggested to me by my friend, Nimish, who runs a light shop business in Thalassery. The hotel is on the first floor of a relatively old building in the midst of the market. When you are at the spot, you could hear horn sounds from a busy market road beside the hotel building. Meanwhile, the lunch is served on banana leaves with a glass of boiled rice water on the table for drinking, which I found quite fascinating as it’s rare to see these days. Even though the place is famous for seafood dishes, vegetable recipes like Sambar, Coconut chutney, Beans thoran, Pickle and Papadam were all on the menu.

Our vlog from Hotel Sree Krishna (Ajayettante Hotel), Thalassery

Since the Hotel Sree Krishna is located in a busy market, the parking facility is not available and you would have to walk a fair distance to get to the food spot. We chose to park the vehicle far away from the spot. Have opted for a shortcut through an alley with old houses on both sides. Rajalakshmi is running the hotel and she is the one who takes care of the cooking. When I got to the hotel, I witnessed the preparations of Mathi and Ayala for lunch. Depending on the availability, there will be changes to the seafood dishes on each day.

Though the restaurant has two rice variants, the whole white Ponni rice and Kerala Kuruva rice. We chose to go with Ponni rice. There were lots of people in the restaurant at noon time and it starts serving lunch at 12.30 pm. Sundays will be off for this Hotel. While we were enjoying the meals, I suddenly recollected the places previously visited in Thalassery, like Thalassery Street food, Paris Hotel in Thalassery to have a taste of Thalassery Dum Biriyani and the National Hotel to have Mutton Head Curry.
