4 am Biryani from Hoskote Mani Biriyani: Biryani is the favorite rice preparation of a vast majority of Indians. As we travel from north to south in India, biryani keeps changing in its appearance and ingredients. Most people love biryani for lunch or for dinner. But in Hoskote near Bangalore, you will get biryani as early as 4 AM! Mani Biryani Centre in Hoskote is famous for its 4 AM biryani. When you see the crowd queueing up at the shop before the crack of dawn, you have to believe that there is something special about this biryani.
Hoskote is close to 30 kms from Bangalore. The place has several popular biryani centres. Mani Biryani is one among them. The long queue waiting to eat biryani in the wee hours of morning is itself proof of the taste of their biryani. They serve only mutton biryani. The owners use the meat from Bannur sheep for the biryani, which is said to be tastier. The shop is open only on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The working hours are from 6 AM to 10 AM on Tuesdays and Fridays, and 4:30 AM to 10 AM on Sundays.
At Hoskote Mani Biryani Centre, they start serving biryani at 4:30 AM, and their entire stock of biryani is over by 9:30 AM. You need to stand in two separate queues for getting biryani. First, you will stand in a queue for making payment and taking tokens for delivery of biryani. They accept cash and online payment methods, but do not accept card payments. After taking tokens, you go to the next queue from where you can collect biryanis. If you wish to eat there, they serve you in environment-friendly leaf plates. If you wish to take parcels, they will pack the biryani in containers. Even in the times of pandemic, the shop sells around 6,000 plates of biryani per day.
Despite the heavy footfall, the owners manage to keep the premises neat and clean. Cooking area and cooking practices are impeccably clean. There are a few seats available, which will be mostly packed with people. But people do not mind standing in some corner to taste the delicious biryani. Food N Travel team visited the shop, and loved the biryani. The quantity of biryani served in one plate was almost sufficient for two people. It cost us Rs.250/- per plate. Biryani was spicy for sure, and it was totally worth the early morning drive from Bangalore. There are no dedicated parking facilities at the shop, but you can easily find space to park your vehicle somewhere nearby.
