Darbar Seafood Restaurant on Masjid Road, Nettoor is all about fish! Started quite recently by a veteran in the seafood business, this restaurant has already become popular among the fish lovers of Kochi. The restaurant itself is in the form of a thatched hut which gives it a rustic ambience and an authentic feel. There is also a small family dining area a bit separated from the main dining.
The items are all moderately priced and tasty as well. A lunch or a regular meal including items such as avial, sambar, thoran, achar, injikari, moru kachiyathu, pacha moru, and pappadam will cost you only Rs. 60/-. The injikari is a big hit among the customers due to its unique taste; people even take it parceled. The specialities here include Kera curry, Thala curry, Chemmeen roast and Malabar fish curry. Tawa fish fry, prepared in banana leaf is yet another fast moving item. For the tawa fry you can select from about 25 varieties of fish!
Fish Al Faham is another not so common dish that is available here. The fish items are all very fresh as they get them directly from the harbour. Rate of the fish items depend on the market rate for fish that day. Other items such as porotta, chapathi, ari puttu, gothambu puttu, idiyappam, and kuboos are also served here especially during the evening hours. People usually end their meal with their special Sulaimani’.
The owner doubles up as the chef at times, supporting the other experienced main chefs. Service is good, and the owner himself attends to the customers most of the time. The restaurant is open from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m. on all days. This restaurant is not near the main road. Limited options are available for parking.
