Kerala has been blessed with different variety of restaurants all throughout the state. When we were on our travel by road, we surely would have had food from many of these food spots. If we are lucky enough, we would find some crown jewels among these restaurants. CKV Naadan Oonu in Eramalloor is one such eatery which serves you some delicious seafood recipes along with Kerala meals. The restaurant is by the side of the National highway between Ernakulam and Alappuzha. The exact place where the eatery is located is called by the name Kochuveli Kavala. Seafood recipes have been the focal point of CKV Naadan Oonu restaurant as we could see a long list of seafood delicacies served for lunch.
Among all these seafood dishes, they have a couple of recipes which are considered to be their signature preparations. One is Meen Pollichatu (Fish cooked in banana leaves) and the other one is Kera Roast (Tuna roast). Although fish cooked in banana leaves is common in many restaurants across the state, Kera Roast (Tuna roast) is a unique dish which is not available anywhere else. It resembles that of the Beef roast recipe and the chopped coconut bits used in this dish make it more attractive. Banana leaves are being used for serving meals and all these add the traditional feel.
When we reached the restaurant, the preparations were going on for lunch and the main chef, Sindu was busy with the cooking of several seafood recipes. She is also being helped by many lady staffs in the kitchen for making several other recipes. She has explained the process of making the Kera roast recipe in detail. Coconut is being used in making many of these seafood delicacies and hence it is quite suited for boiled rice in lunch. CKV Naadan Oonu in Eramalloor doesnβt have any other non-vegetarian dishes other than seafood and backwater items. Avial, Erissery, Bilimbi pickle, Pappad and Prawns chutney powder were also served for lunch.
Erissery served with rice contains lentils instead of the commonly used cow peas and it was simply delicious. The bilimbi pickle was another attractive dish with a lightly sour flavour. I have ordered a few seafood recipes like Mathi fry (Sardines), Kera roast (Tuna) and Kalanchi curry (seabass fish curry with coconut). Out of the seafood recipes I have ordered, Kalanchi curry is the one which really caught my attention. It was truly amazing and it tasted awesome. The gravy mixed with the rice has an incredible flavour which really demands our attention. CKV Naadan Oonu in Eramalloor is a budget-friendly restaurant which serves a wide range of seafood recipes at an affordable cost for the common people. If you are on your travel from Ernakulam to Alappuzha, CKV Naadan Oonu would prove to be an interesting choice.
