Delectable Appam and Fish Molee from Achayante Adukkala in Pala

Enjoy truly amazing traditional dishes for dinner in a cosy atmosphere from the restaurant Achayante Adukkala in Pala !!

Have you ever felt like tasting your dinner from any restaurant in the backdrop of cold soothing rain? It would be really nice to have our food in a cosy atmosphere soaking in the sound of raindrops popping against the surface. We had our dinner recently from the restaurant called Achayante Adukkala in Pala. A slight drizzle was making its presence felt as we were entering the restaurant building. I was with my friend Chinku and his elder son Joe Mathew who is at his schooling age. There was a dining area available inside the food spot which seems to have been filled with customers. They also have an open space for the people to have their food. But since there was a slight drizzle, we choose to go for a table towards one corner of the open space beside a wall. Roofing was available and that prevented the rainwater from reaching our table.

A cluster of bamboo trees was present towards one corner and we had a nice view of the slight drizzle from the open space. My friend’s son Joe Mathew come out with a statement with an innocent smile that Panda is the animal who feeds on these Bamboo trees. With his innocent smile, he seems to be having a nice time enjoying the ambience of the food spot. He was on the lookout to have his favourite Kizhi Parotta dish for dinner. We have gone for some delicious recipes from the menu like Appam, Fish Molee, Honey Beef and Kizhi kappa biriyani.

Our vlog at Achayante Adukkala at Pala

Kizhi Kappa biriyani comes in aluminium foil, inside which the tapioca biriyani is wrapped in banana leaves for an improved traditional flavour. It was quite surprising to see an egg bullseye being placed over the hot steaming biriyani. The use of aluminium foil has really kept the heat inside the dish. Chinku found it really interesting to have it with a glass of hot coffee in the midst of this cold rain. The restaurant has beef and chicken kappa biriyani available for the customers. We have ordered the beef variety and the taste of curry leaves is giving the dish its supreme flavour. The tapioca was cooked and mashed thoroughly with beef pieces and there exists a light spicy flavour which looks to be an attraction of this dish.

Joe found the taste of the honey beef recipe so delicious. Even though it had a slightly spicy taste, the sweet flavour of the honey used in this dish is giving it a unique experience. The sweetness in this recipe makes it more attractive for children. People who are used to having spicy beef recipes would find it more difficult to have this sweet dish. Cashew nut is also used in this dish to enhance the flavour. The taste of honey beef was really unique and it would surely prove to be a new experience for all.

Appam was truly amazing to be had with the Fish Molee. The taste of the Fish Molee dish combines well with the soft Appam. I felt this recipe to be more delicious with Appam than the honey beef recipe. You can also have Kallappam made using the toddy collected from palm trees. It’s slightly different from the normal Appam in its appearance and flavour. Panam Paani or palm honey is also served with Appam and it tastes really sweet. It feels quite similar to honey but the taste is significantly distinct. Joe had a spoonful of Panam Pani and he liked the sweet flavour.

Achayante Adukkala in Pala has a wide range of delicious recipes on the menu. If you feel like having some traditional flavours from Pala, Achayante Adukkala would be a nice choice.
