Lisy Hotel Calicut - Food N Travel

As Keralites, most of us would love to have hot steaming rice served with a whole list of Seafood recipes for lunch. Lisy Hotel Calicut definitely does not disappoint us in this regard. They have traditional boiled rice with a long list of fish fries to choose from. The seafood varieties even include rare Hamoor fish fry. These are coated with crushed grated coconut and curry leaves, which gives them a nice crispy taste. Traditional vegetable recipes like Pachadi, Puliyinchi, Sambar, Rasam and pickles are also available. Meals are served in natural banana leaves rather than plates, which makes it a complete package at an affordable cost.

We found out this small restaurant on our way from Calicut (Kozhikode) to Wayanad. The shop is located exactly at a place called Karanthoor. My friend Shabeer suggested me to have Hamoor fish fry. Apparently, this is one of the special seafood varieties of Lisy Hotel Calicut (Kozhikode). The masala used in this Seafood dish is nothing less than spectacular, which combines really well with boiled rice. Hamoor (Brown spotted reef cod) fish fry was slightly larger in size when compared to other fish varieties, hence it took two of us to finish the tasty dish. The soft fleshy part underneath the masala is finely cooked soaking up the masala flavours.

Lisy Hotel is always with customers at noon time. Hence it makes us difficult to spend more time enjoying our lunch. I should have to mention Pineapple Kichadi served along with rice. The presence of traditional fruits like pineapple and grapes gives this a sweet taste, perfect for having at the end.

A group of 5 people are running the restaurant, the eldest one is Lisy and the shop is named after her. The food spot has a moderate ambience and the place is full at noon time. It is a famous hotel in Calicut, and its long history makes it trustworthy among the community. There is no parking facility available for the customers. We would have to park our vehicle on the roadside near to the food spot.
