Vegetarian restaurants have always been popular among people. There are numerous food spots all across the state serving some of the most famous vegetable dishes like Masala Dosa, Idli and Puri. They also offer snack varieties like Uzhunnu Vada, Pazham Pori (Banana fritters), Parippu Vada (lentil fritters) and many more. Even though we could see a whole lot of Non-vegetarian restaurants operating all through the state, vegetarian restaurants haven’t lost any acceptance. In fact, they are gaining even more popularity among the people. Padma Cafe in Chertala is one such small vegetarian restaurant which has been functioning for many years.
Many people have recommended this food spot located in Chertala and when we reached the spot at 8 O’clock in the morning, the nearby shops in the vicinity haven’t been opened. It’s a small food spot and there is space available for the customers to have their food. As we reached the restaurant, one of the guys by the name of Govindan was very busy with the preparation of crispy fried Uzhunnu Vada or Urad dal fritters. We have also met people who were having food from this restaurant regularly and have heard great reviews about the eatery.
Padma Cafe in Cherthala is quite famous for crispy fried Vada or Urad fritters. Other major dishes which are served in this restaurant are Masala dosa and Ghee roast. I ordered the two main dishes Masala Dosa and Vada, which were served with Sambar, White Coconut chutney and salad. Although in normal instances the crispy fried Vada would be had at the end, I chose to have a change and had Vada in the beginning. It was quite amazing to have the Vada as it tastes really good with chutney. Masala Dosa on the other hand is quite soft and the ingredients stuffed within the Dosa were a semi-think mixture with Potato as the major ingredient. I find the taste of Vada more appealing than the Masala dosa dish and this made me order the Vada once again.
The salad served with the dishes was made of sliced onion pieces and tomato. Freshly chopped Coriander leaves were used for an improved flavour and it goes well with the dishes. The restaurant looked crowded almost all the time and we might have to wait outside for some time to get a seat. The last time when I visited the foot spot, I had Idli and Vada. It was so good and that made me enquire with them to get their support for making the video. They were so supportive and granted their permission to make a vlog about the restaurant.
Padma Cafe in Cherthala is located by the roadside and the parking facility is not available for us. We have to find a space ourselves near the foot spot to park our vehicles. If you are planning to go through the Cherthala region, pure vegetarian Padma Cafe will prove to be an amazing choice for having your breakfast.
