Most of us on hot summer days would demand a cup of cold beverage of any sort that helps us in handling a much-needed reprieve from the discomforting climate. Coffee lovers would surely seek a cup of cold coffee in these times as it can surely help you in alleviating the hardships of hot temperatures. After having our dinner at one of the famous street food eateries in Thrissur, we decided to have a cup of cold beverage. It is at this instance I thought to have my favourite cold coffee and that led us to the nearby shop, Prasadam’s Coffee Bench located close to Rajettante Thattukada or a street food spot in Thrissur. The board which lists out the names of important dishes available through this shop contains a few shakes varieties like Sharjah, Saudi, Oreo and so on.
The entrance saw a unique construction with polished bamboo rods which are knotted together with coir. Nishad choose to go for the Saudi shake and we waited for the beverages to arrive. That’s when we realised that this shop also offers different snacks varieties like Uzhunnu Vada (Urad dal fritters), Parippu vada (lentil fritters), Pazham Pori (Banana fritters) and many more. Since it was quite late and time to close the shop, the snacks were all finished. As we get inside Prasadam’s Coffee Bench, we saw a glass chamber resembling a slim aquarium filled with roasted coffee beans ready to be powdered for making coffee.
The cold coffee which I ordered felt different from the ones we normally have as it looks to have more consistency. Usually, cold coffee is made with normal coffee which is kept for refrigeration. But this one looks different and special. The straw sits quite straight due to the thick consistency, it isn’t quite similar to shakes, in fact, it is slightly less consistent. The Saudi shake contains dates and nuts, it was really sweet and delicious according to Nishad. Prasadam’s Coffee Bench has a relatively calm ambience. It is a small food spot with a seating capacity of eight persons at a time.
