Passion Fruit Chutney | Passion Fruit Chammanthi Recipe
Passion fruit is a wonderful tropical fruit that is very low in calories but rich in nutrients. In a place like Kerala it can grow very quick and can produce a good yield. Passion fruit juices are good to improve your immune system. Here’s a simple recipe of passion fruit chutney or passion fruit chammanthi. Passion fruit chutney can go well with kanji (rice gruel), kappa (cassava or tapioca), and even with different yam preparations.
- 1 no Passion fruit
- 1/4 cup Grated coconut
- 9 – 10 nos Chopped shallots (Small onions)
- 8 – 9 nos Bird eye chilies (Kanthari mulaku)
- Some Curry leaves
- Mustard seeds (A pinch)
- Salt (To taste)
- Sugar (A pinch)
Cut and take out the pulp from passion fruit. Keep it aside.
Slice the passion fruit peel before grinding.
Slice shallots before grinding.
Add all the ingredients (including sliced passion fruit peel, sliced shallots, passion fruit pulp, and other ingredients) to a mixer grinder and grind it to a soft paste.
If you love to add a bit of coconut oil, you can add a tsp of it and mix well before serving.
