Kozhikode is famous as Kerala’s food capital and the city offers some of the best food places in the state. While Rahmath, Bombay hotel, Adaminde Chayakkada, and Paragon are famous among the top local food vendors, Calicut Karachi Durbar offers some of the Persian and North Indian flavours. Their restaurant that locates near the beach is famous for the grills and barbeques.

My Experience at Calicut Karachi Durbar

Calicut Karachi Durbar opens from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm every day with two restaurants (one near Pottammal junction and the other near Kozhikode beach). While reading the reviews about their restaurant at Pottammal, it was noted that the place is overly crowded and narrow. That was a good reason for us to select the beach restaurant over the Pottammal restaurant.

We were in the beach area by around 6:00 in the evening and the entire beach road was jampacked. Parking was a challenge, but we found a place quite away from the restaurant. Before exploring the food at Karachi Durbar Calicut, we had a stroll over the beach exploring a few street food varieties including the famous Kerala payasam.

The restaurant near the sea beach has comfortable seating, clean ambiance, and space fto accommodate 25 to 30 customers at a time. We tried their regular platter which included tandori roti, mutton seekh kebab, beef seekh kebab, bbq chicken, and chicken tikka. I must admit that the food was excellent while the service was above average. The restaurant is good for barbeque – kebab lovers.

What did we try in the restaurant?

We just wanted to try something grilled and when gone through their menu we decided to go for a regular mixed platter. A regular mixed plater is sufficient for 2 people which includes BBQ chicken 1 quarter, chicken tika half, kebab – 1 beef and 1 chicken, roti and butter nan.
